NMAPC Celebrates 13th Annual Zero Injury Safety Awards
Superior Construction Company, BP Products North America and the Northwestern Indiana Building and Construction Trades Council received the Gold Star award for 1,027,169 injury-free hours worked.
WASHINGTON, DC - The National Maintenance Agreements Policy Committee, Inc. (NMAPC) is pleased to congratulate the winners of the 13th Annual Zero Injury Safety AwardsTM (ZISA)TM.
The ZISATM Gala was held on Thursday, October 24 at The National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. This year a record 98 winners were honored (smashing last year's total of 71 winners), accounting for more than 18.2 million injury-free hours worked in calendar year 2012. Each Zero Injury Safety AwardTM recognizes an alliance between owner-clients, signatory contractors and local and international unions who worked together in a tripartite fashion to achieve zero injuries on their projects.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the top ZISATM honor - the Gold Star Award, reserved for projects that have documented more than one million injury-free hours (see photo at top of page). This year the Gold Star went to Superior Construction Company (contractor), BP Products North America (owner-client) and the Northwestern Indiana Building and Construction Trades Council (labor) for 1,027,169 injury-free hours worked at the BP Whiting Refinery in Whiting, Indiana.
The State Group Industrial (USA) Limited, Alcoa Inc.and the Southwestern Indiana Building Trades Council won the top Silver Star Award for 921,028 injury-free hours worked.
Another top team was the State Group Industrial (USA) Limited (contractor), Alcoa Inc. (owner-client) and the Southwestern Indiana Building Trades Council (labor). This tripartite alliance was awarded the top ZISA Silver Star Award for 921,028 injury-free work hours performed at the Warrick Generating Station in Newburgh, Indiana (see photo above). Five other tripartite teams also received Silver Star Awards, which are given to projects that have documented between 500,000 and 999,999 hours worked without a recordable injury.
AMS Mechanical Systems, BP Products North America and UA Local 597 won the top Bronze Star award for 459,891 injury-free work hours.
This year's top award in the Bronze Star category, for injury-free projects between 200,000 and 499,999 hours, went to AMS Mechanical Systems (contractor), BP Products North America (owner-client) and United Association Local 597 (labor) for 459,891 injury-free work hours performed at the Whiting Refinery in Whiting, Indiana (see photo above). Twenty other tripartite teams also received Bronze Star Awards.
MC Industrial, BP Products North America and the Northwestern Indiana Building Trades Council received the top Certificate of Merit award for 196,335 injury-free work hours.
The Certificate of Merit category recognizes projects that have documented between 50,000 and 199,999 work hours performed without a recordable injury. This year's top Certificate of Merit winners were MC Industrial (contractor), BP Products North America (owner-client) and the Northwestern Indiana Building Trades Council (labor) for 196,335 injury-free work hours performed at the Whiting Refinery in Whiting, Indiana (see photo above).
