Industry Advancement/Promotion Funds Approved by NMAPC in 2014
Arlington, VA - January 26, 2012 - The National Maintenance Agreements Policy Committee, Inc. (NMAPC) formally approved a number of Industry Advancement/Promotion Funds at their first quarterly Labor-Management Meeting in January. A complete list of the approved funds can be found below.
The revised National Maintenance Agreements went into effect on January 1, 2012. Language was added to Article IX - Benefits and Other Monetary Funds stating that Industry Advancement/Promotion Funds (IAF), if approved by the NMAPC, must be paid.
In 2008 the NMAPC, working with The Association of Union Constructors (TAUC), put together a process in which IAFs would be thoroughly reviewed to ensure that the funds would be used to generate tangible benefits and prepare craft and contractor personnel to perform work on industrial facilities. Activities such as skill and safety training, continuing education, substance abuse testing, certifications, supervisory and project management development, labor/management cooperative efforts and active participation in the governance of Taft-Hartley trusts would be examples of criteria the NMAPC would consider as contributing to this overall objective.
If you represent a local employer organization that is interested in having your industry funds recognized for work performed under the terms of the National Maintenance Agreements, please contact Todd Mustard, Senior Director of Member Services at (703) 524-3336 x 112, or click here to email him.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Previously approved Industry Advancement/Promotion Funds must be renewed on an annual basis by the NMAPC Labor- Management Committee.
